Clerkin brace fires Na Fianna to title

On another great day for their under-age set-up, Na Fianna claimed the Dublin Minor 'D' Hurling Championship title as they overcame a battling Lucan Sarsfields by 2-12 to 2-10 at Alfie Byrne Road last Sunday lunchtime.

In a cracking encounter, a goal in either half from Ruadhán Clerkin proved crucial for the winners as they came back from a 1-8 to 1-3 interval deficit.

The foundation for their success lay in the talnets of their half-back line with Cathal Brennan, Lorcan Garvey and Shane O'Brien in fine form throughout while Peter Mongey, Eoin Sperin, Andrew Flannery and substitute Micheál Killarney all made vital contributions.

"I've been thrilled with the application, attitude and commitment of the whole of the panel throughout the campaign," said Na Fianna manager Seosamh Ó Maolalaí.

"Lucan were worthy opponents," he added.
