Classy Cuala too strong

Cuala 1-18Lucan Sarsfields 1-9

Lucan Sarsfields 1-9

Cuala produced an excellent performance to beat Lucan Sarsfields by nine points in their Dublin SHC 'A' Group C clash at Parnell Park on Saturday.

Central to Cuala's win was wing-back Oisín Gough, who completely nullified the threat of Peter Kelly, while Cian Waldron, David Treacy and Dan Keating shared 10 points in a vibrant forward line.

Cuala fell behind to a Trevor Lee point but they were soon up and running with Waldron and Treacy landing two sublime points, and further scores from Barry Connolly and Keating saw them go in 0-10 to 0-4 ahead at the break.

Davy Cunningham fired home from close range in the 32nd minute to effectively settle the contest with Alan Whyte's goal in the 52nd minute of scant solace to Sarsfields.

McCrabbe superb

CRAOBH CHIARáIN 2-15

Ballinteer St John's 2-9

DUBLIN'S Alan McCrabbe was the master-craftsman in this Dublin SHC 'A' Group A clash at O'Toole Park on Saturday night. The midfield maestro hit 10 points - including a nugget from his own half in the 53rd minute - before he retired with a shoulder injury five minutes from time.

Ballinteer made a match of it and they looked sharp in attack. It took five late points in succession to allow Chiaráin's gain access to the comfort zone.

David Keane's 17th-minute shot propelled the Donnycarney side into a half-time lead of 1-7 to 0-6.

On 22 minutes, both sides were reduced to 14 men when Ballinteer's Ciaran Walsh and Craobh's Eugene Farrell were red-carded. Both lads shook hands as they walked the line.

Aodhán Clabby hit the first Ballinteer goal four minutes into the second half. Four minutes later, Keith Ryan's sweet volley brought Craobh's second goal, but Clabby, from a close-in free, again rattled the Craobh gate to leave just two points between them on 42 minutes.
