Carton hits equaliser for O'Toole's

A CRACKING Dublin SHC Group A tie resulted in a deadlock at O'Toole Park last night.

CUALA 1-16

O'TOOLE'S 0-19

Conor Carton's free deep into injury-time ensured neither side would leave empty-handed, writes Diarmuid Geraghty.

A good start saw the Dalkey men race into an early lead as points from John Sheanon, Barry Connolly and Cian Waldron gave them a 0-3 to 0-1 lead after five minutes, a Conor Carton free landing the opening score from O'Toole's.

Despite the Northside outfit finding their rhythm and controlling large parts, with Andrew and Graham Morris hurling a lot of ball, David Treacy's goal just before the break saw Cuala level 1-7 to 0-10.

The second half began with Connolly and Paddy Carton exchanging scores but Cuala, couldn't get far enough ahead to punish a missed Morris penalty. The final drama came in injury time when Connolly tapped over a free for what looked the decisive score but Carton had the last say with another placed ball.
