THE Dublin hurling camp has been hit by the bombshell news that Tomás Brady (below) is hooking up with the Sky Blue footballers - but it’s no real surprise to any of his club football colleagues, according to Senan Connell.
“He is carved out of granite - when you run into this guy, you’ll know all about it,” Connell told the Evening Herald.
“I’d say it’s a shock for most people involved in the hurling family side of things that he is making the move, but from the football side in Na Fianna it isn’t a major shock.”
According to the former Dublin star-turned-TV3 pundit, Brady’s background is “as much in football and hurling”. And while he progressed straight into the senior hurling set-up after achieving underage success with the Dubs, Connell added: “He could just as easily have gone straight into the football set-up with Pillar (Caffrey).”
Dublin hurling boss Anthony Daly said he was “very disappointed” but wished Brady all the best, adding: “It's a setback, but we'll get on with it and we're determined to put last year right.”
