Blitz a knockout at Erin's Isle as stars of St Canice's and girls from Glasanaon Road lay down the law

PARTY time at Erin's Isle for the Finglas Community Gardai/School Football Blitz which saw 10 boys' teams and seven girls' teams taking part.

The Garda Mounted unit and Dublin Bus were present to help with the entertainment.

The children received top-class coaching, and Erin's Isle provided the soup and sandwiches for all invovled.

Each team played four matches. The trophies were sponsored by the Finglas Safety Forum, while the gold medals were provided by the Garda Community Relations section, Harcourt Square.

The girls final was won by Mother of Divine Grace, Glasanaon Road. They beat St Canice's of Ballygall Road West.

St Canice's won the boys final, defeating St Malachy's from St Helena's Road. One of Dublin's and Erin's Isle's finest hurlers, John Twomey, the assistant Garda Commissioner, presented the awards to the winners.

"It was a super day," said Aidan Flanagan.

"The children enjoyed themselves and a big thanks to Erin's Isle, the schools, the coaches and everybody else for all their help," added Aidan.
