Bernard to push Plunkett's on

THE timing is appropriate. High Noon. This could be the tie of the round. Plunkett's, the team of a thousand stars, against the Kickhams, Kings of Division 1. Plunkett's, who came so close to the winning big one, and Ballymun, who have been close enough to the big day.

Mick Galvin is getting used to the Navan Road blocks. Extra-time was needed to defeat Sylvester's. Plunkett's and Ballymun met in the League not too long ago. The 'Mun won at Páirc Ciceam.

The Brogan boys were looking on. Containing them will be a priority. But easier written than done. Ballymun have refined marksmen of their own -- Kevin Leahy and Dean Rock were on the ball against Templeogue on Wednesday.

Derek Byrne is a clinical taker of chances, while Eddie Christie and Ted Furman provide their own two-pence worth. Kickhams always bring that extra helping of spirit to the stage. Chris Moore, James Bourke, Brian McCullagh and Barry McCarthy are workers. So is the all-action Alan Hubbard, and there's the class of Philip McMahon and James McCarthy.

Anthony Moyles hit a Royal point against Syls. Conor Evans, Paddy Bergin and Michael Brides are always alert. Ross McConnell and Craig Dunleavy inject adventure. Then there's the man that will enhance the occasion, Jayo. An intriguing one but Bernard Brogan and Nesty's class and understanding to tell.
