HUGE congrats to the Dublin senior and minor teams, who both had superb wins since our last notes, and especially all the representatives from the club. We are all extremely proud of our club-mates, and the whole county team. Our U15s had a good week with a victory over Sylvester's in a challenge and another over Pat's in the Cup. DUE to unforeseen circumstances, the Castleknock 6K Run will not now proceed on the 6th September as advertised. The event will be re-arranged for a later date. AS we prepare for our Championship Quarter-Finals just three weeks away, training continues this week on Monday and Wednesday at 7pm in Islandbridge. More immediately, both teams are in league action next weekend. On Sunday 17th August, our first team is to play Crumlin in Pearse Park in AHL6 at 10.30am, while our second team is due to host Oliver Plunkett's ER in AHL8 at 3pm in Islandbridge. These times may be changed during the week. All players are asked to confirm their availability and be at the correct venue in plenty of time. The Committee is to meet after training at 8.30pm on Wednesday 13th August. An important date for the diary is fast approaching. Civil Service Hurling Club Golf Society annual outing is on Friday 5th September 2014 at the impressive Palmerstown Stud Golf Club, Palmerstown House, Johnstown, Co Kildare with the overall winner competing for the Seamus Hough Trophy. The outing commences at 1.30pm with a round of golf on this top quality course, a four-course meal and a range of prizes. It is always a great social occasion for the club and a great start to the All-Ireland Final weekend. A special concession rate of €60 is available to early bookers. The Fingallians Féile Peil na gCailíní Faoi 10/U10 Girls Football Festival takes place next Saturday 16th August between 10am-2pm. We will have 11 clubs from throughout Leinster and Ulster travel to visit us. We will need as much help and support as possible. If you can help please come down. This is a big event in the LGFA calendar and further raises the profile of the club. Registration for the upcoming Kellogg's Cul Camp will be taking place all week. Completed application forms can be handed into the club office (9am-12pm) or the club bar (6pm-11pm) each day. Please do not leave it till the first day of camp to register as gear cannot be guaranteed till a later date. On Friday (15th of August) from 6pm-7pm, the club's GPO Nicky will be giving out the official Cul Camp gear for those who have already registered and for those looking to register. Well done to all the U10 boys' mentors on hosting another successful U10 boy's festival. Sixteen teams in total took part in the tournament in what was a great day for the young players to display their skills.

WE are now preparing for our big Golf Classic at the famous K-Club on Friday September 5th. We have the course from 10am-2pm. We have 16 teams booked in already, so we have room for 8 more teams. The format is a 4 person scramble and the cost is €300 per team [including a meal]. There is a €10,000 prize for a hole in one at the 17th hole. We are offering 4 tickets to the hurling finals as one of the prizes for the winning teams. There is a €10,000 prize for a hole in one at the 8th hole. To book a slot call Michael at 087-2331983. We were delighted to hand over a cheque recently to Colm Burtchael to help with the running of the elite performance camps. The Dublin Hurling Coaching Academy's Elite Performance Camp ran for 4 weeks in July 2014. It was open to all Dublin Hurling Development Squad players in the U13-U16 age groups. Over the weeks, 247 players attended the camp where they received High Quality Intensive Coaching and Training in addition to advice on areas such as Nutrition and Fitness. The Camps also gives our Development Squad player's access to our Senior Players, which leaves a very positive and lasting impression on our Development Squad players. In addition to this, it offers Summer Employment to some of our Senior Hurlers. The adult players who coached at this year's Camps were Liam Rushe, Colm Cronin, Cian O'Callaghan, Martin Quilty, Chris Crummy, Seanie McClelland, Oisin O'Rourke, Glen Whelan, Cian Boland, Eoghan O'Donnell, John Hetherton and AJ Murphy. CONGRATULATIONS to Eve Talbot on being selected as one of the 15 Camogie Players of the Decade. The award is well deserved following many years of loyal service to both county and club. On Wednesday, the adult hurlers play a very important match against Scoil Ui Chonaill in Clontarf at 7pm. The adult footballers are playing in the Sheridan Cup Final at 3pm in Clontarf next Sunday. The Dinner Dance to celebrate our 60th anniversary will take place in October. The committee will be circulating tickets soon. The annual TMC (Tomas Mulligan Cycle) Fundraiser for Pieta House arrived in the club from Mullingar last Sunday. Over 60 cyclists participated in a very challenging round-trip. The Club Lotto was not won last week. The numbers were 4-7-15. Next week's jackpot will be €1,600. Bingo continues every Wednesday night at 8.30pm. We have Texas Hold'em every Friday at 9pm. The set-dancing classes continue every Monday in the clubhouse at 7.30pm. Concertina and button accordion lessons are available every Monday night at 8pm. RANELAGH Gaels will host its annual Inter-Provincial Seven-a-Side Tournament in Bushy Park next Saturday. Teams are mixed - men and women - and all members (and their friends) are encouraged to come down and take part in what has grown into a brilliant yearly event. The ladies team started their Junior D Championship campaign away to Fingal Ravens last night and they continue on Wednesday week, August 20, at home against Whitehall Colmcille. ADULT games resume this week with a hurling championship fixture v Good Counsel on Wednesday at 7pm in Clontarf. Great fun and skills development at the Club Camp last week with plenty of activity in the reasonably good weather. The Juvenile Academy is taking a holiday and will be back on Saturday 23rd August at the new time of 10am-11am in Shanganagh Castle. The Academy caters for children from 4-7 years old at only €2 per session, covering Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie. New members are always welcome. Our boys' team will be back at training this Saturday morning at 10am the girls under-11 team is taking a break. THE Book on St Mary's Gaelic Football Club, celebrating "100 years or so", will be available to members and friends of the club this October following a launch date yet to be decided. Hundreds of photographs and scores of newspaper reports from the past 'hundred years or so' help to make this book a must-read for club members, friends, relatives, residents of the general area and anyone interested in how a small GAA club can become such an integral part of the community it lives in and from. The book celebrates the story of the club from its hesitant beginnings in 1906 to the successful and vibrant organisation it is today. The numerous achievements of the club on the field and off the field are celebrated. The many contributions made by the club to the villages of Saggart, Rathcoole and Brittas over the past century are highlighted, as is the part played by individuals, families and businesses of these three villages in sustaining the club for over a century. THIS Sunday, the 17th August, the club are hosting a BBQ adjacent to Jack O'Neills from 2pm-6pm. Bouncy Castle, face painting, music, food and craic.
