Ballinteer to edge out Fianna again and book 'Boden date

Ballinteer St Johns v Na Fianna

Parnell Park, Tomorrow, 4.0

A BIG prize awaits the winner -- dinner for two with Ballyboden St Enda's.

A few years ago, the Glasnevin club were on the verge of the big time. They lost narrowly to Kilmacud in the quarter-final.

The feeling on the Mobhi Road suggested it was a chance lost.

But Na Fianna know there will be many more opportunities.

Joey Boland has many big matches behind him. He has emerged as a renowned Daly Disciple. So too has Tomás Brady, who had his season ended with a ruptured cruciate ligament.

Martin Quility is another prized product of Na Fianna. And there's also polish in the work of Neil ó Ceallachain, Ciaran Fanning, Daire ó Maoleidigh and Fergal Breathnach.

The two clubs provided a thrilling Senior B Championship final last season. Ballinteer edged it in the end. Sean Lane and his colleagues have done a splendid job in Marlay Park.

They don't lack stylists -- Cormac O'Brien, Fionan Clabby, Jack Gilligan, the Lane boys, Joe Maher and Fergal Chambers.

It could be another close one.

LAST YEAR -- Ballinteer St John's: Senior B champs. Na Fianna: Senior B Championship runners-up.

LAST TIME -- Ballinteer St John's: Never. Na Fianna: Never.

NEXT: Ballyboden St Enda's in the quarter-final.

VERDICT: Ballinteer St John's.
