THE club is saddened by the death of Tom Woulfe, a founding member of Civil Service Football Club, who made an enormous contribution to the development of the GAA. His legacy as a campaigner for reform was given appropriate recognition in his selection in 2009 among the 125 most influential persons in GAA history. Tom always kept a keen eye on developments on and off the pitch in Civil Service hurling and football clubs. Our present members may not realise the debt of gratitude we owe to Tom for his efforts over decades in the development of Civil Service GAA clubs, particularly as the person responsible for securing our club's location since the early 1940s at Memorial Park in Islandbridge. We offer our deepest sympathies to his family on their loss of this great man. Back to Championship action this weekend with round 2 of the Group stages. Our first team hosts St Sylvester's on Sunday 17th May at 11am in Islandbridge and later that day our second team makes the journey to Oldtown in north County Dublin to take on Wild Geese at 3pm. All members are asked to be sure to be available, respond promptly to Teamer requests and be at the correct venue 45 minutes before throw-in for pre-match preparations. We are always grateful for support on matchday, so if any non-playing or former members can be at either venue, your support would be welcome. Training as usual on Wednesday evening in Islandbridge at 7pm.
