Ballinteer boost bid in rout of Ravens

BALLINTEER St John's maintained their promotion play-off hopes when comfortably accounting for Fingal Ravens by 3-16 to 0-7 in their Dublin Adult Football League Division 5 clash at Marley Park last Sunday morning.

John Keating gave an exceptional display at midfield for the winners, kicking three points and with Niall Dunphy and Seán O'Reilly sharing eight points, St John's confirmed their win through goals from new recruit Paul Joyce and Frankie Ward.

At Galtymore Road, centre-back David Charles kicked three points from play when helping Good Counsel overcome Na Fianna by 1-16 to 0-10.

Tomás Byrne and Robbie Ryder chipped in with crucial points for the hosts and with Mick Mulligan and PJ Impey dominating midfield, Craig Walsh, who scored a glorious goal for UCD in their defeat by Shelbourne last Friday evening, netted to ensure another two points for Counsel.

 

RESOUNDING

Elsewhere, Ballyboden St Enda's defeated St Peregrine's in Páirc Uí Mhurchú while Round Tower, Lusk and Wanderers enjoyed impressive away wins over Naomh Mearnóg and Erin's Isle respectively.

In AFL6, another player with League of Ireland experience, Ollie Cahill, netted as St Vincent's registered a resounding 5-10 to 1-6 victory over St Maur's at Páirc Naomh Uinsionn.

Niall Boland and Alan Moore were also among the goals, benefitting from Cian McBride's excellence at midfield and prominent displays throughout by Matthew Garland, Kieran O'Neill, John Calvert and David Garland.

Cuala enjoyed a facile 0-15 to 0-5 win over Whitehall Colmcille in Dalkey, while O'Toole's and Castleknock made successful trips as they got the better of Naomh Fionnbarra and Templeogue Synge Street respectively.
