Antrim edged out by Wexford

Antrim went down by the narrowest of margins, 1-24 to 2-20, to 14-man Wexford in their Allianz Hurling League Division 1B clash at Wexford Park.

The hosts led 1-12 to 1-9 at half-time, with Paul Shiels scoring a superb 14th minute goal for Antrim and Liam Og McGovern notching one for Wexford.

Despite having captain Tomas Waters dismissed, the Model men surged into an eight-point lead. Antrim responded with 1-06, including a Ciaran Clarke goal, but Harry Kehoe pointed the winner for Wexford.

On Saturday, Paudie Prendergast struck the equaliser in the second minute of stoppage time to salvage a 2-16 to 0-22 draw for Waterford in their opener against hosts Limerick.

Prendergast's late intervention sent the Déise home with a share of the spoils from the Gaelic Grounds.
