Allen Sars' match-winner

Lucan Sarsfields narrowly overcame a battling Thomas Davis by 1-16 to 4-6 in their absorbing Dublin U16 'B' Hurling Championship Final at O'Toole Park last Saturday afternoon.

Emmet Allen proved the match-winner for Sars as he struck six precious points from play to help decide the outcome.

An injury to captain Ciaran Dowling threatened to undermine their chances but the redeployment of Luke Walsh from wing-back to centre-back helped alleviate that potential problem for Sarsfields.

Rory Stapleton was another to shine for Lucan with a solid showing at centrefield and a goal by Conor Heffernan ensured the 12th Lock outfit enjoyed parity at the break on a 1-6 to 2-3 scoreline.

Facing the breeze in the second half, Thomas Davis remained in the hunt through goals by Tom Cummins and Adam Halpin, while David Keogh and Niall Maloney also chipped in with crucial scores.

Darragh Gilson and Eoin Lambert were hugely influential from the Thomas Davis half-back line and goalkeeper Calan Brennan impressed throughout.

However, the efforts of Rory Stapleton, Ben Coffey, Evan Lombard and Colm Keenan proved pivotal by the end.
