'Fringe stars will enjoy it'

RICHARD Dunne has words of advice for the half dozen or so picked to travel to Poland who won't do much more than help load the kit on match days.

In 2002, Dunne was a bystander while events whirled around him but he suggests that anyone along for the ride should enjoy themselves.

"I look back and yes, it was really good, enjoyable. Of course I was frustrated at the time that I couldn't play. But the games are such a small part of it."

"You're five or six weeks away training together and being together. Everyone is in the same boat missing their families but it will be a good experience to be away for so long as a group.

"It's a major word tournament and you might not get the opportunity so make the most of it."
