Friends ready for Classic encounterTHE

Friends ready for Classic encounterTHE annual Friends of Dublin Hurling Golf Classic takes place on Thursday May 23 at the Castlewarden Golf and Country Club.

There will be no shortage of blue jackets. Dublin hurling contains many gifted golfers.

"It's our biggest fundraiser of the year. All monies raised go directly into Dublin hurling," announces Michael O'Grady.

"It's vital that all the Dublin clubs support us on this one. We are hoping for a full house.

"We have reduced the entry fee. It's now €300 for a team of four, and that includes a meal. We feel that is good value.

"It's always a most enjoyable day. Hurling people are special, and when they get together, the banter just flows. It's very much a social occasion as well. A chance for old friends to meet up, have a chat and look forward to the summer action.

"We'd be delighted if as many clubs as possible sign up. And you don't have to be in a club at all. Everybody is welcome. As the date gets a bit closer, we are asking people to enter now. Tee times will be allocated on a first-come basis. People can also sponsor a tee for €100," he adds.

To book, ring Michael on 087-2331983 or email fodh@eircom.net. Or you can book on line at www.fodh.ie.
