THE FAI insist there has been no approach from Leicester City for Martin O'Neill (left) and the Derry native is expected to see out his contract as Ireland manager.
O'Neill's name buzzed around online circles yesterday afternoon when one UK bookmakers revealed that they had suspended betting on the Leicester job after some heavy bets were placed on O'Neill in relation to the Leicester post, which became vacant last month with the sacking of Nigel Pearson.
O'Neill (63) managed the Foxes between 1995 and 2000 and he is still highly regarded at the club where he led City to promotion, two League Cup successes and European qualification. Local media in Leicester reported that O'Neill was a target for the club but sources in Abbotstown have poured cold water on the idea.
"There is nothing in it and there has certainly been no approach for Martin," an FAI source told The Herald last night.
