THE Blues had long since booked their ticket for the All-Ireland Junior Premier semi-final on August 24th.
Westmeath arrived in O'Toole Park on Sunday needing a win to secure a play-off place. They got it. "Our target was to get to the semi-final, and we managed that after our first three games, so the girls deserve credit for that," noted Dublin manager, Dave Dunning.
"Westmeath are a decent team. They had a class free-taker in Dinah Loughlin. Every time we conceded a free, she just popped the ball over the bar."
Dublin were without dead-ball specialist Georgina Kelly who is making good progress with her injury. The Dubs are optimistic that she'll be back for the semi.
"We'll keep working away. Before our last game against Down, we were getting a good spread of scores.
"We hit 14 or 15 wides on Sunday, but at least that shows we are creating the chances."
