O'CONNELL School will be hoping for some home comforts today when they take on St Killian's DSD in the Leinster Boys First Year B final at Stella Maris FC (1.30).
Last year's beaten finalists are looking to go one better today and the fact that the Richmond Road venue is closer than their own home pitch could be a good omen.
O'Connell edged into their second-consecutive First Year B showpiece thanks to a 4-3 win over Trinity Comprehensive, Ballymun.
Loyd Lawless, Edward Iacob and Troy Parrott (2) were on target as they won 4-3 after extra-time. The school won the Under-15 crown a decade ago and are famous for producing big names like Ireland internationals Jeff Kenna, Stephen Elliott and Keith Tracy.
Killian's are known for their recent success at senior boys and girls level, but go into today's game on the back of a 3-2 semi-final win in Gorey over New Ross.
Ethan McGlynn-Levins bagged two and David Barker was also on target in the hard-fought win.
The final-four victory came only a matter of days after Killian's saw off Rockbrook Park in a delayed quarter-final. Michael Boridon and Hugo Heisterkamp on target.
