Davis' joy as they take Championship

THE sun is shining again for camogie on the Kiltipper Road.

On Sunday at O'Toole Park, Thomas Davis (pictured below) lifted the 'We Are Dublin' Senior 3 Championship crown following a thriller against Portobello. Frank Malcolmson was at ringside. Nobody has done more to keep the candles burning.

"Frank has put so much into camogie at the club," said Davis manager, Padraic O'Connell, who also hailed the contribution of the rest of his management crew, Geraldine Peggs and Mick Jordan.

It was an amazing victory for the Tallaght team who struggled to get numbers at the start of the season.

"It wasn't looking good for a while, but some players came out of retirement, and everybody put in such a huge effort.

"We performed poorly in the league, but we upped it for the championship, and everybody is saying we are more of a championship team.

"This is a big boost for camogie in Thomas Davis. We are absolutely delighted."

Now, next weekend, the Dubliners will take to the road where they will meet Camross of Laois in the Leinster Championship.
