Cork eye Rosenborg tie

KR Reykjavik v Cork City (Live Setanta Ire 8.15)

WITH football in Iceland riding the crest of a wave thanks to the success of the national team in the Euro 2016 qualifiers while the Republic of Ireland suffer in their campaign, one of their clubs sides hopes to get one over on an Irish club tonight and win a place in the next round of the Europa League.

Norwegian side Rosenborg await the winners of tonight's tie between KR Reykjavik and Cork City (presuming Rosenborg don't throw away a 2-0 first leg lead against Faroese outfit Vikingur) so there is a big incentive there for both Cork and their hosts.

"There's a lot at stake but the mood in the camp is good and we're ready for the game," said Cork boss John Caulfield (above) ahead of the the tie.

"We have a couple of hundred fans coming over and wouldn't it be fantastic if we could progress and play Rosenborg next week.

"KR are a good side and this will be a tough game but we feel we can get a result, we have identified areas where we feel we can cause them problems.

"It could go the wire but we have done our homework and we can't wait to get on the pitch go out and play.

"It's a 50-50 tie, we are in good form and have prepared well, we only need one goal."

Cork travelled without without brothers Billy and Darren Dennehy. Billy was axed by the club, following an on-field clash with team-mate Mark O'Sullivan in the 1-1 draw at home to KR last week and is expected to move to Limerick but Darren's fate is unclear.

Rob Lehane misses out due to injury.
