Coleman is on Red alert

SEAMUS Coleman is on Red alert and waiting to see if David Moyes' imminent appointment by Manchester United will have spectacular consequences for his own career.

An announcement on Moyes is expected in the near future and should confirm that the current Everton boss will begin work at Old Trafford on July 1, despite Everton chairman Bill Kenwright's claim that a deal has yet to be concluded.

"I don't know about a deal being done. I think, at the end of the day, David's contract is up in six weeks' time and he has a right to make his own decisions. He's served this club wonderfully well," said Kenwright.

However, bookies have suspended betting and it is likely that Moyes' first task will be to persuade Wayne Rooney, who discussed an exit strategy with Ferguson a few weeks ago, to stay for the long haul.

But Coleman, who has two years to run on his current deal and has been linked with Old Trafford on a number of occasions, could be Moyes' first transfer target along with James McCarthy, another player who was placed under observation by Ferguson this season.
