Garda were the biggest winners of the weekend in AFL3 as they secured a vital 2-13 to 1-10 victory over St Sylvester's on Saturday in Westmanstown.
Goals from Willie Skelly and Damien McGing helped the home side on their way.
And with midfielder James O'Donnell and Kenny Clint in excellent form, the Garda men were full value for their win.
Sylvester's battled gamely throughout, but in the shape of Richie Lynch and Dinny Ellard, they met serious obstacles in front of the winners' goal.
Just as importantly, however, with Clontarf in firm control of the division, the Garda men's main rivals for second place Na Fianna fell to a shock 1-13 to 1-11 defeat by Trinity Gaels.
It leaves Clontarf with a four-point cushion over second-placed Na Fianna heading into the winter break.
The Glasnevin men, however, have most of the hard work done in terms of taking at least a play-off spot despite their slip-up.
To be fair, Trinity put in a superb effort that reignites their challenge for promotion.
Tarf, meanwhile, continue to set the pace by making it 11 wins from 11 with a 0-24 to 0-8 demolition job on Ballyboughal.
There was also a major twist in AFL4, with one of the two remaining 100pc records no longer standing.
St Jude's went to Galtymore Road two points adrift of Good Counsel, who were on a run of 10 consecutive wins.
The Tymon North men, however, had only tasted defeat once themselves and managed to come away with the spoils, 2-9 to 1-10.
Goals in each half for the winners proved the difference. The first came from David Reynolds after 20 minutes, while 10 minutes after the restart Gareth Roche also found the net.
The home side just couldn't recover and the likes of Dave O'Hara, Barry Fitzgerald and Eoin McLoughlin helped the Jude's men take home the points.
Ballymun, meanwhile, continue to lead the way.
