OUR Hero of the Week this week is a current and future Dublin star. Aaron Elliott was among many Mun players with the Dublin minors, but his two-goal salvo from midfield was the winning of the opening Leinster Football Championship game for Dublin over Offaly. Take a bow Aaron, you are our "Laoch Na Seachtaine" for this week, and a worthy one. Congratulations also to the rest of the Dublin minors and especially the large Mun contingent, including manager Paddy Christie. A fine test, passed with flying colours. Not content to rest on their laurels, our own Minor As had a big win over Brigid's in Russell Park. Dean O'Brien, Ryan O'Leary and Conor Kavanagh superb in defence. Aaron again dominant in midfield with Paddy Small, Colm Hulton and Carl Keeley prominent up front. Lads now have gym on Wednesday at 7pm, followed by pitch work outside, and training Friday in Albert at 4pm. Next league game is this Sunday 27th April v Cuala in Pairc Ciceam at 11am. Our nursery will host the rejuvenated club shop every 1st and 3rd Saturday for the "personal" shopping experience. Otherwise, you can view our new and improved website http://www.ballymunkickhams.com, where there is an online shopping experience to enjoy. You can also join our Facebook and Twitter feeds from the website, see the latest fixtures and get any information you seek from top to bottom in the club. Finally, the Dublin GAA world was shocked last week at the sudden and tragic passing of Dave Billings. A man who passed on his experiences and passion to many members of our club and who had a huge influence on some of our greatest footballers. We offer our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, clubmates and colleagues. Ar Dheis de go raibh a hAnaim.

A big thank you to Stephen Kennedy and his home club of Dicksboro in Kilkenny. Dicksboro hosted Beann Eadair for an U9/U10 Hurling Mini-Blitz, followed by refreshments for everyone travelling. Well done to our U15s on 2 strong performances and wins in the last 2 weeks over Cuala and Naomh Barrog with great displays from Jacqueline McCarrick, Kate Hanratty and all of the team. Also, well done to the U10s, who had 3 wins out of 3 against Fingallians. Karl Noonan and Marcel Haas playing very well. OUR first team secured a hard-fought but well-deserved victory against Naomh Olaf in AHL6 in Pairc Uí Bhriain on Sunday morning. Intensity was the key word in Mark's pre-game talk. Everyone was clearly listening because there was no let up throughout. We held a 3-point lead at half-time and never let it go despite the Olaf's onslaught on our goalmouth in the final stages. Hopefully, this intensity is the product of our recent Wednesday training sessions and that it can be repeated next weekend when we start our 2015 Championship campaign. Our second team game against Round Towers was postponed until Monday night, so will be reported in notes next week. The focus is now on next Sunday 26th April, when both of our teams are in action. The first team plays Ballyboden in Ballycullen Park at 10.30am and our second team also plays Ballyboden at 12pm in Islandbridge. All members are asked to be sure to be available, respond promptly to Teamer requests and be at the correct venue in plenty of time for pre-match preparations. We are always grateful for support on match day, so if any non-playing or former members can be at either venue, your support would be welcome. Training continues on Monday and Wednesday at 7pm sharp. Everyone should try to attend on both evenings. Anyone who cannot do so should continue to work on their own fitness and skills. The last few members who have yet to pay their annual subscription should do so straight away.

ANOTHER fine set of victories for a host of our teams over the last week - threw up a number of particularly impressive performances. First among these was the very strong win recorded by our senior hurlers in the league against Faughs. Not far behind was another strong win in the league, this time by our minor footballers against Round Towers. And Sunday morning, our U15 hurlers played a nail-biting encounter away to St Pat's in Palmerstown, only to come out on top in the end by a hard-earned four-point margin. A very large crowd turned out on Thursday night in the club for the Table Quiz, held to raise funds for this year's Feile teams. There was plenty of craic, a host of prizes given away and no shortage of quiz supremos, as over 20 teams competed to come out on top. There was no winner of this week's Lotto Jackpot of €8,200, for which the lucky numbers were 14, 24, 25 and 29. This week will see the latest in the series of very successful 'Le Cheile' workshops for team mentors, which have been organised by Orlaith Curran. And with Orlaith about to set off for greener pastures down under, we thank her for her commitment to the club and wish her the very best in her future endeavours.

TEAM of the Week goes to our U9 boys' footballers, with all 5 teams winning at the weekend against opposition from St Pat's (Donabate) and St Brendan's. Our boys' Feile team are holding a fundraising Table Quiz in the clubhouse this coming Friday the 24th at 9pm and all are welcome to support this fundraiser for our Feile teams. There was no winner of our Club Lotto this week. Numbers drawn were 15, 19, 26 & 27. Our weekly consolation winners were Ruth Kyne and Donal O Seaghdha. Next week's Jackpot is €7,900. Hard luck to Andy Foley and the Dublin U21 footballers, who were beaten by Tipperary in the All-Ireland semi-final. The club extends its deepest sympathy to Sean Ryan on the recent death of his brother. The club also offers its sympathy to the Billings family following the sudden death of Dave Billings. Finally best wishes to minor dual player Tom O'Flaherty for a speedy recovery from his recent illness. www.clontarfgaa.com.

THE Strategic Committee are holding a workshop on Monday 27th April (7pm-10pm) in the Club Hall and are inviting all members to come along and to participate. The results of the survey and the output from the workshop will form the building blocks of the Club Strategic Plan for the next 3 years. It was a mixed week for our county teams, but one big positive was the Dublin minor footballers overcoming Offaly in their opening game of the Championship. Our sharpshooter, Shane Howard (a minor hurler in 2014), contributed 2 points before retiring with injury in the first half. Our U7 squad (football & hurling) played their first competitive games when they travelled to St Anne's Park on Saturday to take on Raheny. With a squad of 50 players, broken into 6 teams, it was all hands on deck for mentors, coaches, helpers & parents. A big thank you to Raheny for their hospitality and supplying referees. Please check out our Facebook page for all the action. Good luck to our U14 girls this weekend as they travel to Skerries for Féile 2015. Ghlacamar páirt sa "Chomóras na nGael" a bhí eagraithe ag an gCumann Luthchleas Gael agus Glór na nGael. This is a competition to recognise the clubs doing the most to promote the Irish language. Fingallians extends deepest sympathy to the Billings family and the St Vincent's & UCD clubs. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilís.

THE Dublin Féile takes place this weekend and the club will be entering teams in Division 1 and Division 5. The Division 1 team will be based in Ballyboden and will be playing Na Fianna, Lucan Sarsfields, Cuala, Kilmacud Crokes and Ballyboden. The Division 5 team will be playing their games in Round Towers Clondalkin, where they will be playing Craobh Chiarain, St Anne's and Round Towers Clondalkin. The first game for both teams is at 10am and we would encourage club members to come out and support the girls. The Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others had a very successful Table Quiz on Thursday evening last. The organising committee would like to sincerely thank everybody who supported the event. The senior team had a very early start on Saturday morning last in their second outing this year in a 7s tournament. Having brought home the silverware from the Crossmaglen 7s in February, a different mix of players again travelled north of the border to Lurgan last Saturday. The draw saw us in a tough group, and we got the worst possible start with a defeat to Ulster club runners-up, Donaghmoyne of Monaghan. The players quickly recovered the situation with impressive victories against Sarsfields of Armagh and St Christopher's of Leeds. That left us in in second place in Group 1, and were drawn against Group 3 winners Truagh of Monaghan in the quarter-final. Our girls came through by two points with a measured, skilful and flawless performance. That led to a semi-final place against another Monaghan team, Emyvale. This was a cracking encounter that ebbed and flowed, with the Monaghan outfit coming through in the end by 5 points. It was a marvellous day throughout. The 11 players were a credit to themselves, their team, and our club.

WHAT a great performance by our team on Sunday at Nowlan Park. It was a vast improvement on the night in Croke Park when Cork walked all over Dublin. It would have been nice to have won the game, but the Championship is nigh and the team can now focus on Galway for the last Sunday in May. Who knows, but we may meet Cork again before the year is out and we owe them one. There were many man-of-the-match performances, but we are giving the award to the player who made the most improvement in his game and that is Niall McMorrow. Our minor hurlers are starting the Leinster Championship next Saturday at 2.30pm in Parnell Park, when they take on Offaly. We encourage as many as possible to attend and support our team. Our deepest sympathy to the family of Dave Billings on his sudden death. We are open for new members to sign up and join Fodh. Membership costs €20 for adults and €10 for juveniles. You can sign online at www.fodh.ie or send your money and details to Tom O'Donnell, Games Office, St Vincent's CBS, Glasnevin, Dublin 11. We are now planning for our 10th Annual Golf Classic at Castlewarden Golf and Country Club on Thursday May 21st. The format is a 4 person scramble and the cost of a team is €300. Tee-boxes can be sponsored for €200. The timesheet is now open and call Michael at 087-2331983 to book a slot or sponsor a tee-box. The best GAA club team will get a special prize of a €500 sports voucher from Peter Curran. Any GAA club that enters a team will get a tee-box sponsorship from Friends of Dublin Hurling for their own club classic.

ST Vincent's and Dave Billings - can`t imagine having one without the other. Sadly, we have to face that new reality and St Vincent's is bereft at Dave`s passing, RIP. He was a true one-off. It`s so apt that he got to see our senior hurlers win their match last week in Belfield. He was like the King afterwards, so proud and delighted and looking forward to the final. Always thinking and planning for the next step. His passions were his beloved family, Nettie, Hannah, Liam, Cathal and Neal; St Vincent's, Dublin GAA, UCD, the GAA, and chocolate. The enormous traffic on Twitter and social media gives some indication of the esteem in which he was held by so many, and of the help and support given to others. That was his trademark. Many a great story about Dave are being told around the club and there's no doubt many more to hear yet. A wonderful and devoted husband and father. Our thoughts are with Nettie, Hannah, Liam, Cathal and Neal, and with Dave himself. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a Anam dilís.
