Juvenile games and training are resuming this week. New players welcome at all age groups - training from 10am on Saturdays. Juvenile subscriptions are now due for 2014/15. Hard luck to our junior footballers losing out in their championship semi finals to Colmcilles at the weekend. Well done to the Under 11s hurlers winning a Camaint final in Parnell Park at the weekend. Well done to the organisers of the 2nd Cul Camp in the club this summer with another 140 plus attendees last week. There is a substantial amount of lots and found items in the club following the Summer camps which can be reclaimed on Saturday. There was no lotto winner, next jackpot is €1,500.

CASTLEKNOCK

LAST Saturday, it was discovered that the club shop had been stolen. It is believed to have occurred sometime between Saturday the 5th July and Saturday the 23rd August. The Intermediate Hurling Championship Quarter Final takes place this Saturday, with the lads taking on Thomas Davis in Kiltipper Road. Throw in is at 6pm, and big support is needed. CLANNA GAEL FONTENOY

WELL done to those of our teams who recorded good wins over recent days. To start with, our Intermediate Footballers had a fine 0-16 to 1-11 victory over Ballyboden. Not to be outdone, our Junior Ladies showed their resolve in achieving championship success over Round Towers of Lusk. At the same time, the amalgamated U-15 hurlers of Ui Chonaill-Fontenoy scored 3-8 to overcome Ballinteer St Johns in the first round of their Championship. The team lie top of the Division 2 table and look poised for promotion to the top level. Our U-14 hurlers have not been so fortunate of late, going down to successive defeats against Naomh Fionnbarra and Kilmacud Crokes. Still in contention towards the top of the Division 3 table, the hope will be that the team will return to winning ways when their full complement of players return after the summer break. Finally, preparations are well underway for the club's fundraising race night in Shelbourne Park on 27thSept. With tickets costing just €15 per head and various add-on prizes to be won, it has the makings of a great night at the dogs.

CLONTARF

TEAM of the Week goes to our U13 B Footballers who defeated TSS to stay top of their league. Senior Footballers lost narrowly to Na Fianna in a close encounter. Clontarf still maintain top spot in AFL3, with 3 games to play. U13 A and B teams recorded excellent league wins. U11 hurlers concluded their summer Camaint series at finals day in Parnell Pk. Tickets ordered for the Dublin/Donegal game can be collected on Friday evening from 9-10pm, in the club bar. There will be a BBQ in the club following the Dublin match from 6-8pm, with the match replayed on the new big screen TV. Best wishes to Jack and also to our Minor representatives Andrew Foley and Declan Monahan. Well done to Sarah and Margaret with the Dublin Ladies who reached the All Ireland quarter final.There was no winner of the club lotto this week. The numbers drawn were, 1,16,25,27. There was a great result last Saturday for our 1st Adult Footballers who beat O'Tooles by 2-15 to 1-13 in AFL2. Our 2nd footballers also had a good win over Ballyboden in AFL5 on Sunday morning and the 3rd team got a walkover from Palmerstown inAFL9. Congratulations to Cuala's Martha Byrne who was part of the Dublin ladies Gaelic football team that defeated Kerry in the All-Ireland Quarter Final on Saturday by 2-12 to 1-10 in Birr. A devastating display of drive, determination and skill from the U16 hurlers gave them a massive 6-13 to 1-09 win over Whithall Colmcille last Thursday in Division 1. Perfect preparation for the upcoming championship. The lotto numbers this week were 18, 3, 5, 22. Our three €50 lucky dip winners were Jo O Connor, Lorraine Hayes and Pip Connolly. The club held an U12 hurling festival on Saturday with teams from Wexford, Kilkenny, Kildare, Laois, Carlow, Meath and Dublin. ADULT football championship rolls on with Congratulations to the Daire Brennan Junior footballers who beat Parnell's 1-6 to 0-8 in the Championship Quarter Final. David Beagon rattled the net, but club legends Big Jim Fitz and Marcus O'Buachalla chipped in with points to add to Councillor Liam Dockery's frees. "New Boy" Cormac Bonner added to the tally and a great team performance. The altitude training in Louisbourgh paid off, well done lads. Pressed for a comment, Daire replied "delighted with the result", but returned to the blanket media ban thereafter. The Minor B footballers had a useful workout in Bray and face Lucan next weekend an 'Boden the week after. Well done also to the Molly Lamb and the Dublin Senior Ladies Footballers who beat Kerry yesterday in the All-Ireland semi final. Hard luck to the senior footballers who lost to St Oliver Plunketts in the AFL1, 0-13 to 1-8. Well done to the Senior Footballers on beating Erin's Isles 2-5 to 1-5 playing most the game with 14 men. Goals from Richie Timmons and last minute goal from Barry Hehir. Great performances all round to the U12 boys in winning the football blitz on Saturday against Kilmacud Crokes, Fingal Ravens and Skerries Harps. The boys showed good character as they came from behind to win each match. Great display of passion and pride from the Camaint team that played in Parnell Park on Saturday but lost out in two tight matches. Very proud of each and every one of the boys. Well done to the U14 Hurling Team who beat Naomh Fionnbarra 4-11 to 4-3 in the league last Thursday. Great all round team performance. Well done to Aoife McGinley who represented Dublin in the All-Ireland Community Games 80m sprint and came 4th. A DISAPPOINTING result for our junior footballers who lost to Round Towers Clondalkin in the semi-final of the championship. The lads started well but should have had a lot more scores from the amount of possession they had in the first half. They tried hard in the second half and despite a late rally they could not bridge the gap. We would like to wish Towers the best of luck in the final. Our intermediate footballers played a draw with Ballyboughal in their league tie. Our senior hurlers are at home to Naomh Barróg in the quarter finals of the championship on Saturday night at 6oc while our junior hurlers play O'Toole's in the semi-final of the junior championship also in the boggies"on Sunday morning at 10.15am All support greatly appreciated for both games. A HUGE thank you to all who came out to support the Christine Bollard tournament today and everyone who helped out in any way. It was much appreciated. A great display of football from all the teams who came to participate. St Maurs girls made it into the final against St Sylvester's in a match that was very tight but Sylvester's skill pipped Maurs at last few minutes. Thanks to Christy and Maureen and family for the beautiful trophies they put up for the tournament for runners up and winners and Player of the Tournament. Well done all. Congratulations to the u11 hurlers on their fine performance at the camaint finals in Parnell park today Maurs beat Round Towers Clondalkin 3-0 to 2-1 in a very exciting game. It was a great team display and the lads were delighted to receive their medals from Dubs legend Brian Cullen. Our first football team lost away to BallyBoden Saturday by three points while our second football team won by three points against St Peregrines on Sunday morning. Congrats to the G4M&O team on a great win against Fingallians Thursday night. There will be Bingo next Sunday as usual and the Club. WELL done to our senior footballers who defeated Finian's in the league on Saturday. Hard luck to the junior footballers who were beaten against the same opposition. Our Ladies footballers are in championship action on Wednesday night at home to Stars of Erin @7, please try to get down to support the team in this local derby. Senior hurlers are in championship relegation action at home on Saturday evening at home @6p.m. Junior hurlers are in the championship semi-final at home to Skerries at home @10.15 on Sunday morning. THE Dublin U16 girls play Cork in their All Ireland Final on Sat 30th August in Templemore at 1pm. We have two players from our club on this team, Erica Byrne (captain) and Clare McGrath. The whole team will return to the clubhouse for a reception at approx 7pm. Everyone is welcome to the reception. We will need a lot of help on the day and we are asking all members and juvenile/executive committee members to help out. CONGRATULATIONS to our wonderful Ladies team that reached the Championship final for the second year in succession. This followed a hard earned victory over Naomh Barrog in the semi-final 2-12 to 1-5 on Wednesday last. The team trained extremely hard the last few months and their hard work and commitment paid off as they finished the game strong, outscoring their opponents by 7pts to 1 in the final 15 minutes. Tomorrow (Wednesday) the girls play Cuala at home, 7pm in the semi-final of the Cup, come on and show them your support. Our U13 hurlers had a cracking game and a superb result over St Vincent's on Saturday. We take our hats off to our U14's that played and won three matches in as many days. They have been outstanding in performance and consistency, with marvellous wins in the Hurling league on Wednesday by over 7 goals v Lucan Sarsfield and defeating Thomas Davis in the top four play offs on Thursday, playing league football on Saturday beating a Westmanstown Gaels team. A big 'well done' to our U12 boys on reaching the final of the hurling tournament in Fingallians last Saturday. The lads were brilliant, beating four teams from across Leinster on their way. Just coming up a little short losing to the host team. This Saturday night in our lounge it's 'Diablo' and if you don't have a ticket for the match on Sunday you can watch it on one of our screens. There was no winner of our live Club Lotto draw on Thursday. The numbers drawn were 1, 15, 17, 19. This week the jackpot will be €3,500.

RANELAGH Gaels newest supporter was on the touchline last weekend to cheer on the ladies team in their Junior D Championship semi-final. RTE's Jennifer Maguire was in Bushy Park on the back of the club's appearance on Breakfast Republic on 2FM on Wednesday morning. Ranelagh Gaels featured on Thursday morning too, with Jennifer giving glowing praise to her first ever GAA experience. The ladies won on Wednesday to book their semi-final place. They take on Craobh Chiarain at Bushy Park to decide who finishes top of the group. The lads aren't back in action for a few weeks, but training continues and challenge matches are being organised. The next draw in the Ranelagh Gaels Club Lotto will take place in Smyths on Thursday, August 28 when the jackpot will be €1,700. HEARTBREAK for our first Team following their defeat by St Vincent's in the Junior A Championship semi-final on Sunday. An admirable performance on the day from Towers, who just couldn't get the scores needed to hold back a strong St Vincent's side. We wish them the best of luck for the final. The Golf Society recently hosted their Captains Day in Mount Wolseley with 18 of their members taking part, which everyone enjoyed. The organizing committed expressed their thanks to Neary New Motors for sponsoring the event. Winner on the day was John Flood, with Gerry O'Connor coming second and Brendan Kavanagh third. The next outing for the group will be Monday 15th September in Beaverstown Golf Club. Our Nursery will resume on Saturday 6th September from 10:45 to 12:00 catering for our 4-7 year olds. The Adult Hurling team will resume their puck abouts on Friday 5th September from 7pm. There will be a meeting the following week to set out their plans for the 2015 season. ADULTmen stuck to their task and delivered a win in their Division 3 league game on Saturday evening. The Division 8 game, scheduled for Sunday, was postponed due to championship. THE juvenile Academy is back inaction every Saturday morning at the NEW TIME of 10.00am to 11.00am in Shanganagh Castle. The Academy caters for children from 4-8 years old at only €2 per session, covering Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie. New members are always welcome. Our boy's and the girls under 11 years football teams are also back in training on Saturday mornings at 10.00am and on Wednesday evenings at 7.00 pm in the same venue. ST FINIAN'S, SWORDS

OUR adult footballers restarted their campaigns after the summer break this weekend. Coincidentally, both our Intermediate and Junior teams had games away from home against Nh Olaf. Unfortunately, our Intermediate team came out the wrong side of a heavy defeat on Saturday night. However, the Junior team reversed the result on Sunday morning with a fine victory. The second of our Summer Camps took place last week. The highlight of the week was an appearance by Dublin senior footballer Eoghan O'Gara, who demonstrated some of his fine skills, signed autographs and posed for photographs. We wish Eoghan and all the Dublin footballers the very best of luck in their all Ireland semi-final next week. The club is raffling a pair of tickets for both the hurling and football All-Ireland finals. Tickets are €5 each and are available from team mentors and committee members, or by dropping into the club office. Members have been called to a Special General Meeting (SGM) on Thursday 28th of August, with one item on the agenda. The Executive Committee are seeking discussion on the future development of Club infrastructure, including the possibility of providing an all-weather pitch. The club has grown significantly in the 30 years since its foundation and members are encouraged to come along to the SGM to be part of the discussion regarding what is possible and what it will take to deliver even better facilities for current and future members. The lotto jackpot was €7,200 this week. The numbers drawn were 5, 11, 14, 15. There was no jackpot winner. The winners of the €50 lucky dip prizes were Tony & Collette Kiernan and Jonathon Keyes. THE Academy, u9's and u12's are back from the summer break this coming Saturday, 30th August, training at the GAA Pitches, Kilnamanagh from 10.30. A huge congratulations to our Junior Men's team who won out 1-9 to 0-6 against a battling Tyrellstown in the Championship on Sunday the 24th. Notice of the time and date of the final will be announced soon and it would be great to get a huge turn out for the match. THE u-11's trip to Glasgow last week was a huge success. We would like to thank everyone who made this trip a great success, especially for the 17 kids who had a ball. They managed to get a tour of the famed Parkhead, go to a fun park, and play a football blitz on Saturday with 4 other teams. The intermediate footballers won the Summer tournament on Sunday with a hard fought 2-8 to 0-10 win over Curraha in the final. Paul Lumley and Brian Shanahan scored both goals. Well done lads. We would also like to thank all teams for participating and the best of luck to Curraha in their quest for championship glory. The junior footballers lost their league match on Sunday away to a very strong St Oliver Plunketts. Well done to our coaches who did the club very proud at the Charlestown Fingal fun day, promoting the club very well. Thanks to all the hard work Jack, James, Ciaran, Conor, Johnny, Emma, Martha, Derek and all of the adult members of the club that got involved.

THE Book on St Mary's Gaelic Football Club will be available to members and friends of the Club with the launch date confirmed for Saturday November 1st. Hundreds of photographs and scores of newspaper reports from the past 'hundred years or so' help to make this book a must-read for club members, friends, relatives, residents of the general area and anyone interested in how a small GAA club can become such an integral part of the community it lives in and from. The Book celebrates the story of the Club from its hesitant beginnings in 1906 to the successful and vibrant organisation it is today. The numerous achievements of the Club on the field and off the field are celebrated. The many contributions made by the Club to the villages of Saggart, Rathcoole and Brittas over the past century are highlighted, as is the part played by individuals, families and businesses of these three villages in sustaining the Club for over a century. St Mary's links with Commercials Hurling Club and St Finian's GAA Club also feature. Price: €20. Seniors have a very important league game this evening against Na Fianna at 7.00pm. Please come out and support the lads. The club pitch will be closed from tomorrow Wednesday until the 10th of September to allow vital maintenance work to take place. THERE was a terrific win by the club's junior footballers in the B Championship semi-final over Robert Emmets on Sunday to reach the decider but some heart ache for the other junior team in losing out after extra time to Plunkett's in the D semi-final. The Senior men - refreshed from their ice bucket challenge, catch it on YouTube - return to AFL1 league duty against Parnells on Tuesday night and there are big championship quarter-final games for the club's adult hurlers this weekend: the seniors face Setanta on Saturday in the SHC B quarter-final and the juniors play Raheny on Sunday in their quarter-final. THE Inters kept their recent good league form going with a good away win on Saturday evening over St Marks. This was the first game after the holiday break and the scoreline was 1-16 to 1-04. The next league fixture is on Saturday 6th Sepember at home to Ballyboughal at 6pm. The next Junior fixture is a league game away to St Mary's of Saggart on Sunday 7th September with a 10:30am start.
