TODAY is day three of the Cheltenham Festival and at 5.15pm, I will be literally getting the inside track as I get the chance to line up in the St Patrick’s Derby.
Your Evening Herald racing correspondent will be aboard The Baler in the final race of the afternoon, a charity race run in aid of cancer research, and I’m hoping to follow on from previous wins in such races at Punchestown.
The Baler is trained by Kildare-based Philip Dempsey and is owned by Ger Langan and was quoted at 20/1 this morning with some bookmakers.
I rode him out this morning and I’m really looking forward to the race. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to ride at the Cheltenham Festival and I am very privileged to have the chance to do it while raising money for a great cause.
Anyone who would like to make a donation towards the charity can do so on www.justgiving.com/NiallCronin.
