Sony Ericsson Temple House Music Festival official launch tonight

MUSIC-lovers will be out in force tonight for the official launch of the Sony Ericsson Temple House Music Festival, which takes place in Sligo later this summer.

The new three-day family-friendly, music, culture and arts festival will take place at Temple House, Sligo, on September 10, 11 and 12 and will feature everything from live music to poetry reading, face painting, holistic therapies, art exhibitions and a farmers' market.

The official line-up will be announced at tonight's event, which will take place on Wexford Street, Dublin, from 6.30pm. Terry Hall from The Specials will be spinning the tunes at the invite-only event.

wwwA special charity event will take place in aid of the Make a Wish Foundation next weekend when music fans step out to Sin nightclub in Temple Bar on Saturday, May 29, for an evening of live music, male waxing and an auction.

The event begins from 6pm with tickets costing €10 at the door. The show will be hosted by RTE star Baz Ashmawy and FM104's Robbie Kane.

Guests will be able to bid for a signed rugby Leinster jersey and other signed sporting memorabilia.

A raffle with donated prizes will also be held.

wwwA host of TV3 stars have agreed to donate their favourite dresses to the celebrity Buy My Dress campaign, which starts on Thursday at No 6 Kildare Street.

Among those who have generously offered their wares for the charity event are Anna Daly, who is selling a black lace halterneck dress for €70, and Colette Fitzpatrick, who has donated a full-length evening dress to the cause.

Other stars who will be supplying dresses in the coming days include Sybil Mulcahy, Karen Koster, Sinead Desmond and Andrea Hayes.

wwwSTUDENT designer Aisling McDonnell is celebrating after winning the Gillette Venus Spa Breeze Dress of Your Dreams competition 2010.

Aisling, from Ballina, Co Mayo, is a first-year student at the Limerick School of Art and Design and beat four other finalists to win the overall title, which includes a cheque for €1,000 towards her fashion career and the Gillette Venus crystal trophy.

She will also feature in a national advertorial.

Aisling designed a show-stopping dress incorporating the new Venus Spa Breeze blush pink colours.

wwwRTE presenter Kathryn Thomas launched Sunflower Days 2010 yesterday in the Lord Mayor's Garden at the Mansion House on Dawson Street.

The Carlow star was joined by Grace Pearl Hassan-Maguire (2), Samara Jones (8) Mia Lyons (3) and Tara O'Sullivan (8), all of whom were dressed as sunflower fairies for the launch.

Sunflower Days will take place on June 11 and 12, with hundreds of volunteers selling sunflower pins at €2 each.
