Son held to face charge of killing dad
A 29-YEAR-OLD man is due to be charged with the murder of his father after being arrested outside Mountjoy Prison.
Edward Boylan (74) was stabbed to death with a large knife before his Kimmage flat was set alight in what may have started out as a robbery in early January.
The victim's son, Eddie, has been in custody in Crumlin Garda Station, having previously been interviewed by detectives earlier this week.
Firefighters found Mr Boylan dead in his bed on the afternoon of January 7 when they were called to tackle a blaze at the pensioners' complex.
Gardai said the victim was stabbed in the chest before his attacker set fire to the Ravensdale Close property.
The murder weapon - a large knife - was still sticking out of his body when it was found by gardai.
Gardai have obtained CCTV footage taken before the murder.
The footage was taken from the Great Deli Foods newsagency across the road from the Dublin City Council complex where the victim lived.
Eddie Jnr was arrested on Grafton Street hours after his father was murdered in Kimmage but later released without charge and returned to Mountjoy Prison until this week's developments.
