'Snowblow' girl in garda attack
SENTENCING of a 17-year-old girl, who attacked two gardai following an early morning drink and drugs binge, has been adjourned.
The girl was using a now-banned cocaine substitute called snowblow to help her to lose weight, Dublin Children's Court heard yesterday.
The teen, who is on bail, had been found guilty of assaulting the officers at Harcourt Terrace Garda station on a date last April.
Sentencing was adjourned until a date in January.
NZ warning on whale protests
New Zealand has warned that the mood between Japanese whalers and protesters who challenge them annually off Antarctica is especially volatile this year.
Foreign minister Murray McCully urged both sides to show restraint to ensure no one is killed.
The whalers left Japan earlier this month for the Antarctic Ocean, and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society boats have left New Zealand in pursuit.
