Slade can rock to win for Powers yet again

IT was fantastic for the Power family and all concerned in Slade Power this week that they sold the horse to stand at Darley Stud next year when he is finished racing - and he should be hard to beat again in the July Cup tomorrow afternoon.

Both Sole Power and Slade Power have done them proud and they will take each other on tomorrow in the Group One contest but the race should suit Slade Power more as it is over six furlongs. He was a very impressive winner at Royal Ascot as he was the only horse that was up there in the front rank throughout which didn't fold at the business end.

There has been rain at Newmarket but that wouldn't be a concern as the horse has proven that he can adapt on the ground and, hopefully, his great story will continue.

I won the race a couple of times for Aidan on Mozart and Stravinsky and Aidan has three runners in tomorrow's race.

While anything Aidan sends over has to be respected, a horse who I think could make his presence felt is the Spanish horse Noozhoh Canarias.

I thought he ran a good race in the Guineas at Newmarket and if there was a bit of ease in the ground - which looks likely - I thought he was a horse who could run well dropping back down to spriting distances.
