Simone shows she is a real daddy's girl with London fashion success

SHE learned it all from daddy -- and now designer Simone Rocha is proving that she is Ireland's most bankable rising star.

The 26-year-old fashion creator received a stellar response to her spring collection at London Fashion Week yesterday.

Proud dad John (59) -- the Hong Kong born fashion designer who is based in Ireland -- spoke glowingly of his daughter's achievements.

"Fabric is the foundation -- she learned that from me," said the delighted father.

The up-and-coming designer -- who was shortlisted for the British Fashion Council's Emerging Talent Award -- has proved that she is no flash in the pan.

And while the budding talent -- who debuted at London Fashion Week in 2010 -- has her designer dad's giant shoes to fill, she seems to be taking it all in her stride.

Simone's clothes are currently stocked in 30 stores worldwide and, based on her success yesterday, that figure is expected to grow over the coming 12 months.

Her latest spring collection at London Fashion Week was a collection of all-white outfits, sheer cut-out panels, neons and leather that mixed schoolgirl innocence with cool attitude.

The collection started with dazzling white button-up shirts and boyish shapes in Broderie Anglaise, but the prim look was soon undercut by thigh-revealing, irregular shaped sheer panels on the front or back of skirts.

Models wore mannish brogues with clear plastic soles and heels, a design that has been worn by celebrities including Rihanna and proved to be Rocha's best-selling product.

"I was very much inspired by teenagers and by my youth," said Simone who described the collection as a reflection on youth in all its purity and unruliness.

It was a true family affair with dad and mum in the front row, and with the music selected by her brother Max. After the show, dad and daughter headed to Paris to sell their 2013 collections.
