Eoin Farren

OSCAR-NOMINATED director Jim Sheridan is set to make his acting debut as a priest.

The world-renowned director has agreed to take part in a short film about a Jewish girl who wants to make her first Communion.

The 10-minute picture is being filmed in Dublin.

A source said: "It's a very short piece but has potential to make its mark.

Disturbing

"Jim will play the role of a priest faced with a child who is not Catholic but wants to make her Communion along with her friends." The film is titled Suzie Cohen's Holy Communion.

The short will be directed by Terenure-based film-maker Shimmy Marcus.

Irish-born author and screenwriter Lana Citron wrote the script, which has received a writing award from the Jewish Film Fund.
