THE search is on to find a Dublin mascot for the Dublin football team for the league clash against Mayo at Croke Park on Saturday, March 29.

The mascot has to be aged between 4 and 12. And to be in with a chance, all you have to do is visit the link below and fill out details like name and address, etc. http://www.aig.ie/individuals_3192_582368.html. Closing date is March 26.

The winner will receive a ticket for the match, plus two tickets for parents/guardians. And the mascot will also be presented with a full team kit.

It's an exciting opportunity to lead out the Dubs with Stephen Cluxton under the bright lights in a repeat of last year's All-Ireland final. It is sure to be a memorable occasion for the mascot.

Indeed, it could be the first of many trips to sampling the famous Croke Park sod.

Many mascots have gone on to play top-level sport. Perhaps one of the most famous of all was the mascot to the Dr Crokes football team in the All-Ireland Club Football final of 1992 against Thomas Davis. It was none other than the great Colm Cooper.

The Gooch features on the competition link. And so do the All-Dubs against the All-Blacks Challenge, the day the Dubs showed the All-Blacks how to play football, hurling ... and rugby!

That was on their visit here last winter, and the video contains footage of Dublin personalities Charlie Redmond, Bernard Brogan, Johnny McCaffrey, Niall Corcoran, Stephen Cluxton and Cian O'Sullivan.
