Saints planning perfect weekend
DCU Saints will be looking to extend their winning run in the Nivea For Men's SuperLeague when they host Bord Gais Neptune and UL Eagles over the Bank Holiday weekend.
DCU Saints have signaled their intentions with a 100pc record after four games but their head coach David Donnelly is refusing to get carried away.
"We are happy with our start to the season," said Donnelly. "We realise that it is still very early in the season and we have yet to face some of the big hitters of the league.
"We are trying to stress defensive intensity and although we can improve in that area, we have been strong defensively for the most part."
UCD Marian will be looking for a third straight win but will be without Matt Kelly for their tricky test at home to a UL Eagles outfit hoping to get their season back on track.
Moycullen have suffered two-point defeats in their last two games and their hopes of ending their losing run will be seriously tested away to Belfast Star and 11890 Killester.
"In the last two games against DCU Saints and UCD Marian we had opportunities to win but it was not to be and now we must take our home form on the road with us and it would be nice to get a win under our belts," said Moycullen's Cian Nihill.
In the Nivea Women's SuperLeague, DCU Mercy lost their unbeaten start to the season away to old foes Team Montenotte Hotel.
However, they will be favourites to reverse that trend against their fierce rivals 11890 Killester this weekend.
"Killester are playing well and we will of course show them the respect they deserve but the mood in our camp suggests that losing is not an option," said DCU Mercy star Lindsey Peat.
A win for 11890 Killester would see them leapfrog DCU Mercy into third place in the table.
