Rugger radio as Jamie swaps Number 8 for 98FM

Rugby ace Jamie Heaslip made his debut on the airwaves today.

The Leinster star swapped his headband for headphones this morning as he joined Aidan Power on this morning's breakfast show on 98FM.

The Breakfast Crew normally features Claire Solan alongside Aidan, but while co-host Claire is on holidays, bosses have recruited a revolving door of famous faces to fill her shoes every day.

And while Jamie (27) may be notoriously private, he has no qualms about acting as a DJ for the day -- even giving the traffic updates and reading texts from listeners.

The hunky rugby international will be going straight from the studio to training before jetting off to France for Leinster's clash against Racing Metro this weekend.

Alan Metcalfe, producer of The Breakfast Crew on 98FM explained that they felt Jamie was a natural fit for the role and the programme would be having a number of Dublin's best known faces over the coming weeks.

"Obviously it's normally Aidan and Claire that present the show, but while Claire is gone, we needed somebody to keep Aidan company," he said.

"And we thought we'd get lots of different people in for one day at a time.

"It will be continuing into next week as well."

The team have lined up a string of stars to join the station, including Herald columnist Rosanna Davison, boxer Bernard Dunne, Dustin the Turkey and Georgia Salpa, who made her debut yesterday morning and will be joining in once again next Wednesday.
