RTE star Nicola set for series on Irish in Canada

Blonde beauty Nicola Hughes has big plans to move to Canada in the coming months.

The top model is one of the lucky seven who will be travelling to Vancouver as part of a new fly-on-the-wall programme by Straywave Media for RTE.

The reality show, entitled Exiles, will follow seven aspiring stars in their twenties as they take on the city to find success.

Sandyford native Nicola (23) has already had a taste of the glamorous model lifestyle in recent years thanks to her work in front of the cameras and will be a natural on screen.

She told the Diary that she's planning on heading to Canada even if she show doesn't work out.

"We don't know a huge amount of detail yet about Exiles but I'm planning a move to Canada anyway," she said.

"A lot of my friends have moved there and I have a two-year visa so I feel like I should use it and head over. It's very exciting; it's such a happening city."

Nicola, who is hostess in Dandelion, is heading to London for work in the coming days and is then jetting off to Spain for a holiday.

She says she's happy being free and single: "I'm dating but I'm not seeing anyone. I like it though, I'm having a lot of fun at the moment and I'm busy with work."

Straywave Media is the production company behind TV3 hits Fade Street, Celebrity Salon and Dublin Wives.

And Nicola is obviously hoping to replicate the success of Nadia Forde, who got her big break with a stint on Celebrity Salon, shortly after her break-up from Luke Fitzgerald.

Straywaves' John Norton is responsible for creating reality stars from socialites like Virginia Macari, Roz Flanagan and Jo Jordan.
