Rolex ripped off OAP's wrist

AN OAP (71) had his watch stolen from him by thieves who barged into his home and threatened him with a knife.

The incident happened at the man's home in Newlands Drive, Clondalkin.

It has reported that he heard someone at his door and when he went to investigate, two men forced their way into the house and grabbed a large knife from the kitchen.

During a brief struggle he suffered a cut to his face.

They grabbed the Rolex watch from his wrist and also took his mobile phone before fleeing. Gardai said no arrests have yet been made.

Boy (14) 'drank to oblivion'

a 14-YEAR-OLD boy facing trial over a mugging is to be moved to a special care unit after he took a cocktail of drugs and drink.

The teen is facing charges for robbery of a male of a mobile phone during an alleged incident in north Dublin last May.

He was due to appear at Dublin Children's Court yesterday but could not attend as he had been moved to a different care home.

A care worker said that the boy admitted "drinking himself to oblivion" on vodka. The case was adjourned.

Hornby to write drama for BBC

Fever Pitch author Nick Hornby is writing his first TV drama, based on the memoirs of a nanny who worked for the leading lights of literary London.

Love, Nina will go out on BBC1 over five half-hour episodes and is adapted from Nina Stibbe's book.

The book recounted her time as nanny to the editor of the London Review of Books in the 1980s and features appearances by Alan Bennett.

Residents in Cambridgeshire are now able to measure their alcohol intake thanks to an initiative which is handing out free What's In Your Glass? kits at pharmacies.

The kits include alcohol unit measure cups and aim to support people cutting back on alcohol.
