Rocker Rod nods to football hero with baby's Irish name
Has veteran rocker and Celtic fanatic Rod Stewart paid homage to one of the Glasgow club's former heroes?
The 66-year-old and wife Penny Lancaster were celebrating the arrival of their baby boy today -- and have chosen to name him Aiden.
His new son bears the same name as former Celtic and Ireland star Aiden McGeady, who left the club for Spartak Moscow last year.
The singer's wife, Penny Lancaster, gave birth to their second child, weighing in at 7lb 12oz.
The baby is Stewart's eighth child.
A statement released on the couple's behalf said they were "proud and thrilled".
They already have a son, Alastair, who is five, but Lancaster (39) struggled to conceive naturally a second time.
Lancaster, a photographer and model when she met the singer more than a decade ago, underwent IVF and became pregnant on the third cycle.
The statement said: "After the long-awaited arrival of their second child, Rod and Penny are proud and thrilled to welcome Alastair's baby brother, Aiden, into the world.
"Mother and baby are healthy and blissfully happy."
Lancaster is the chart star's third wife and they married in Italy in 2007.
