Riches had taken the right Road to Plate

To be honest, I didn't think he would be as big a price and I know it's no good to anyone now but he did have some good form in the book.

The first thing I could think of was that he beat Dad's horse Foxrock at Naas on their first start over fences and if Foxrock can progress in the way that Road To Riches did it will make for an interesting winter.

Shane Shortall gave the horse a lovely ride. He was jumping from fence to fence out in front with his ears pricked and he had the horse full of confidence.

It is one thing to say that you are going to ride a horse like that in the Galway Plate and another to go and do it - and he certainly didn't look like a seven-pound claimer on him that is for sure.

Unfortunately, in the amateur maiden Sarah Lynam was involved in a horrible incident when her horse ran off the bend and she took a crashing fall just before the fence past the stands.

Thankfully, the latest updates last night were that she was fine, sitting up and chatting away so that is great news to hear. You don't want to see anything like that, but thankfully she looks like she is going to be okay.

Dermot Weld had another double and it was a day I'm sure Finny Maguire will never forget as he rode his first winner for Mr Weld in the same race and he continues an association that his father Adrian had when he was riding.

The crowds were up again yesterday and it has been a fantastic few days so far and hopefully it continues.

Today is Galway Hurdle and Ladies Day so I'm sure it'll be a massive crowd and there will be plenty of sights to see and hopefully Rawnaq and Pearl Castle will run well at decent prices.
