Richard Dunne has not retired from football and is on the lookout for a new club.

Weekend reports suggested that the 35-year-old is preparing to hang up his boots after his departure from QPR.

However it's understood that the player was perplexed by the reports and has told friends that he intends to remain in the game.

Dunne was interested in staying on at relegated QPR but they are cutting the wage bill and were unprepared to match his terms.

The veteran centre half - who retired from international football last summer - is expected to attract interest from Championship clubs while the MLS has also been floated as a possible destination.
