Relaxed Anton eases into new radio show
Anton Savage
Anton Savage got straight down to business this morning when he took over the vacant slot left by Ray D'Arcy on Today FM.
No stranger to broadcasting, having hosted the Savage Sunday current affairs slot at the same station, he eased himself into a more relaxed format.
Anton has said that being picked to host the show was a "great honour", but picking up the huge audience that Ian Dempsey hands over at 9am is a big responsibility.
But he says he is not going to worry about listener figures for at least 18 months and is anticipating a dip in numbers tuning in.
"Ray had a hugely loyal audience so I'd be surprised that in the first 12 months if there wasn't some kind of dip," he said.
"It's about 12 to 18 months in when you begin to say 'OK have we got that bottomed-out and can we start to climb back up again'," he added.
