Police killed in terror attacks

at least seven police officers were killed in separate attacks in Nigeria believed to have been carried out by a radical Islamist sect known as Boko Haram.

The attacks took place in the city of Maiduguri, where Boko Haram once had its main mosque. One attack struck the home of a former senator in the region.

In Mafa, about 25 miles from Maiduguri, 20 gunmen suspected to belong to Boko Haram attacked a divisional police headquarters. The gunfire lasted for an hour, witnesses said.
