PM Boris in hospital as 'precaution' over virus

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson

Boris Johnson has been admitted to hospital for tests as his coronavirus symptoms persist, Downing Street has said.

Number 10 said the UK Prime Minister was taken in as a "precaution" on the advice of his doctor.

He tested positive for the virus 10 days ago, and has been in self-isolation since.

It came after Queen Elizabeth has delivered a message of hope, saying if we "remain united and resolute" in the face of the coronavirus outbreak "we will overcome it".

The British head of state warned her country, in lockdown for almost two weeks and with thousands dead after contracting Covid-19, "may have more still to endure".

Succeed

However, she echoed the words of Britain's World War II forces' sweetheart Vera Lynn, when she said "we will meet again".

In a rare televised address, the queen sounded a positive note amid the crisis, saying: "We will succeed - and that success will belong to every one of us."
