PJ leaps back into dugout at Mearnóg

ONE of Dublin's leading managers, PJ Donohue, is back in the big time.

PJ is the new boss of Naomh Mearnóg. He has already got down to business for the 2013 season.

PJ climbs into the Portmarnock dugout following a short break from the game.

His previous role was at Erin's Isle whom he guided to an OZO Senior 1 Championship final and semi-final.

On both occasions, they lost to Ballyboden St Enda's, where PJ achieved much celebrated success over the years.

It included leading Boden to the Leinster title in 2008, as well as securing county championship gold.

Mearnóg won their only Dublin Championship crown in 2009 on a memorable day at the Iveagh Grounds where they defeated Good Counsel by two points, 1-11 to 1-9, Joelenne Hoary getting all of the Counsel total.

The Dublin heroine of 2005, Niamh Taylor, hit nine points for Mearnóg, seven from play, on that occasion.

Presently, Mearnóg have a cluster of Dublin personnel including Catriona Power, Laura Twomey, Miriam Twomey and Sarah Ryan, who played against the Portmarnock club in that 2009 final.

PJ also spent several seasons as the Dublin senior chief, and brings a vast knowledge to the coast. And buckets, and spades, of conviction.

His arrival suggests that Mearnóg will be well in the mix for league and championship honours come the new campaign.
