Pixie's Lotta love for X Factor Mary
BRITISH singer Pixie Lott says she's backing Irish X Factor contestant Mary Byrne all the way to win the popular ITV talent show this year.
The Mama Do singer explained how she was delighted when she had the opportunity to meet the Ballyfermot singer at the Pride of Britain awards in London on Monday night, when Mary and fellow contestants donned their gladrags to attend the star-studded bash.
Brilliant
And despite spending much of the night partying with X Factor boyband One Direction, which features Mullingar-born teen Niall Horan, loved-up Pixie insists she only has eyes for her new beau, model Oliver Cheshire.
"I haven't had too much time to watch the X Factor itself but I've seen a couple of episodes and I think Mary is brilliant," Pixie told the Diary.
"I just like people who can sing so, yeah, definitely Mary could win.
"All the judges and the contestants were at the Pride of Britain awards and I had a chance to meet them. I was talking to One Direction for a while, they seem like nice guys.
"I'm happy as I am right now [when it comes to her love life], that's all I'll say," she added.
Pixie (19) jetted into Dublin yesterday morning in order to make surprise appearance at the O2 store on Grafton Street at lunchtime, where hundreds of fans turned up to welcome her to the capital city.
Last night meanwhile saw the blonde songstress take to the stage at the O2 in order to perform an intimate gig, which was streamed live on O2blueroom.ie.
Lunch
"I was really excited about it," she explained. "I always love coming to Dublin and I'm not going to get a chance to play a date here when I go on tour next month so playing the O2 gig was extra special for me.
"I'm flying back home in the afternoon so we're going to have a nice lunch before leaving."
