Paul Azinger: Davis Love would be excleent choice to lead US Ryder Cup team

Paul Azinger has welcomed reports that Davis Love will captain the United States Ryder Cup team for the second time at Hazeltine in 2016.

Azinger, the last US captain to lift the trophy in 2008, was favourite but Love is expected to be appointed next week and thereby be given the chance for redemption after being on the wrong end of the 'Miracle at Medinah' in 2012, when his side lost despite leading 10-6 going into the final day's singles.

"If true, I believe that Davis is an excellent choice to lead US Ryder Cup in 2016," said Azinger.

"He's still connected to the players."
