Other sport in brief: Hamilton wins after Bull fight
MOTORSPORT: Lewis Hamilton chalked up his first win for 10 races to ignite his championship challenge, although he insisted he had never been away.
Hamilton capitalised on a collision between Red Bull duo Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel to spearhead a McLaren one-two in Turkey.
"I don't think I was ever gone," said Hamilton, when asked if he was back to his best.
"I have just been unfortunate up until now. After qualifying second, we knew that was just one step we needed to make, and although they (Red Bull) made it tough for us, we put up a good fight."
Third and fourth appeared the best the British pair could hope for until Vettel's manoeuvre on Webber on lap 40 saw him spin out with a wrecked rear wheel.
Murray slips up
TENNIS: Andy Murray believes the French Open could take a leaf out of Wimbledon's book over deciding when a court is fit to play on after seeing his Roland Garros grand slam bid fizzle out.
Murray was beaten by Tomas Berdych last night, losing 6-4 7-5 6-3 in a match that did not finish until 9.34pm local time.
"You can understand if the crowd want to watch tennis, normally at an exciting part in the match," he said. "But conditions can become tricky. They have to stop at Wimbledon because the dew on court gets slippery. Wimbledon do a good job of that. Here, I don't know."
Irish take strides
ATHELTICS: Ireland's world-class race walkers ramped up their build-up to the European Championships in July with two top-six finishes at the IAAF 10km Challenge in Kracow, Poland.
World 20km silver medallist Olive Loughnane finished fifth in 44mins 8secs, while Cork's Robert Heffernan broke 40 minutes when he was sixth in a PB of 39.21 in the men's race.
Klitschko suspect
BOXING: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko produced an uninspiring performance as he forced a 10th round stoppage of Pole Albert Sosnowski in Germany.
Meanwhile, Limerick's Willie Casey is eyeing up a tilt at a European title after his stunning win over Paul McElhinney to win the Prizefighter Super-Bantamweight series in London.
