IS ALL well within the Cabinet? That's the question many will ask in the wake of comments from two senior ministers on the issue of garda whistleblowers.
Joan Burton has supported Leo Varadkar's call for Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan to withdraw his remark that the actions of the garda pair were 'disgusting'.
Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore also backs Varadkar, it's reported.
On the surface the support for Varadkar's statement should put pressure on the Commissioner.
However he clearly still retains the support of the Taoiseach and the Minister for Justice.
For many observers the story is now turning towards a possible rift in Cabinet – particularly in light of the Taoiseach's remark that criticism like this should not be aired in public.
Why did Leo Varadkar embark on his so-called 'solo run' on this issue? What could he gain by it?
Expect interesting times ahead in Government Buildings.
