Reilly's sugar tax a winner

Health Minister Dr James Reilly's proposed sugar tax is a winner on every level. The tax would improve our health, reduce medical bills and would bring in a much needed boost to Revenue coffers.

It would be particularly beneficial for children, some of whom get half their day's calories from sugary fizzy drinks alone.

Arguments that it would bring job losses have to be balanced against the huge health and revenue gains.
