Letters: PJ got it wrong

The reserves do a great job and they are volunteering their own time unpaid. They train for a lot longer than two weeks and put in time and effort. And, as I understand, when recruiting for full-time gardai, the recruiters look at the reserves first.

I was really offended when I read Detective PJ Browne's article (Herald, July 6) about the garda reserves. My boyfriend is going for the reserves because he wants to see what it would be like before he thinks seriously about joining the Garda Siochana full time.
