Letters: Collider chaos

I read in the Herald that the super Hadron Collider is to be switched off for a year over fears that it could break apart.

This is a smart idea. Since the boffins in charge of the project started the machine up in 2008, the world's economy has gone belly up, the climate has gone crazy and the likes of Jedward have become household names. Surely this interference with sub-atomic matter is having an effect on the space-time continuum itself.

Enough is enough.
