Israel losing the public opinion fight

all hopes of a lasting peace between Gaza and Israel were shattered yesterday morning.

Both sides had kept their promise of a 72-hour ceasefire, but when that expired the horrors of war resumed.

Islamist groups in Gaza began rocket fire and Israel duly responded with a bombardment throughout the day.

Tens of thousands of men, women and children who had returned to their homes in the Palestinian territory had no option but to rush for cover in UN-run shelters which are becoming ever more overcrowded.

The issue has touched so many right around the world, particularly Irish consumers who are making a conscious decision not to buy products from Israel. Peace activists will hold a rally today in Dublin.

Gazan terrorists in the name of Hamas are stoking the Israeli fires, but by all accounts the greater state of Israel is being particularly heavy-handed in its approach.

In this bloody war, Israel is losing the public opinion battle.
